The position of Halien port is at Latitude 23¢X59' 11" North, and Longitude 121¢X37' 35" East. She is an international port in the eastern coast of Taiwan.

According to the city and county population statistics in April 2004, Hualien county population density is 75.72 persons per square kilometer, which is much lower than other cities and counties population density except Taitong County¡¦s 68.83 persons per square kilometer. Hualien County mainly depends on tourism instead of industry. The river and ocean pollution are far lower than other cities. In addition, in order to decrease the dusty air due to sand and rock cargo loading, prevent |  | seawater pollution caused by vessels¡¦ waste oil, wastewater, or oil, the harbor bureau assembles various dust-preventing equipments and strictly inspects illegal pollution in the port or outer port seawater caused by vessels. The length of port surroundings is about 4 kilometers. You can view the Pacific Ocean, May-Luan Creek, and old railroad along the path. It is a brand new sight seeing spot when touring Hualien. Various trees have made the entire path a green passage. Giant trees with leafy shade have continually been planted along the road.
