News Icon TitleĄG The shipping Lines to Taitung County's outlying Islands are reopened
News Icon ContentĄG Typhoon Morakot brought tremendous amount of drift logs into Fugang Fish Harbor. After the Hualien Harbor Bureau mediated with Taitung County Government, the drift logs have been cleared and Fugang Fish Harbor was reopened for passenger and cargo transportation on August 18th.

Hualien Harbor Bureau indicated that Typhoon Morakot brought in a massive amount of drift logs, which blocked the passenger and cargo ships from the outlying islands of Taitung County from coming into Fugang Fish Harbor. To restore the services as soon as possible, Hualien Harbor Bureau made an emergency order and mediated with Taitung County Government to open the Xingang Port and Jinzun port for temporary loading and unloading of passengers and goods to maintain an open shipping channel for the outlying islands.

Nonetheless, Hualien Harbor Bureau would like to remind the passenger and cargo transportation operators to thoroughly inspect their ships and make sure that their ships have not been damaged by the drift logs before launching the sail.

To monitor the service quality of the passenger ferry operators, passengers may report incidents or complaints by calling the Hualien Harbor Bureau Contact Center (Tel: 03-8344476) or the personal in charge (Tel: 0937-976567) for immediate assistance. In addition, Hualien Harbor Bureau also supplies updated ship schedules online, please visit http://www.hlhb.gov.tw for details.
